The secret is out

Woah, can you believe we’re stepping into 2024 already? The end of a year just hits differently, doesn’t it? ✨

Nostalgia and excitement hit hard, but both are worth soaking in.

I have no doubt you are enthusiastic and filled with new year, new me energy. I am here to give you a couple of quick and straightforward pieces of advice for setting yourself up for some serious wins in 2024. ⚜️

  1. Ditch the idea of overnight transformations🌙

Setting goals is like cultivating a garden—it takes time for the seeds to sprout and blossom into something beautiful. Change is more sustainable when it’s a gentle, steady process. It’s not a race, it’s a marathon. 🏃‍♀️

So, for the love of life, please resist the urge to reinvent your whole self on January 1st.

Approaching it from a neuroscience standpoint, easing into new habits allows for the gradual establishment of neural pathways. Your brain needs time to construct brand-new robust infrastructure.

Now, you might know that I’ve got a little something to add to your glow-up toolkit—the That Inside Out Glow Guide. This gem is your compass to reinventing yourself sustainably, making sure you win! ✨

  1. Don’t set goals for the entire year 📅

One year is a very long period. It is hard to sustain motivation for such a long time if the end goal is distant.

Long-term goals can feel overwhelming, leading to procrastination or a sense of being stuck.

Shorter-term goals allow for greater flexibility and adaptability. 🔄

Setting a sooner deadline is a much better option. I suggest having a 2 or 3-month deadline.

After working for that period, sit down and reflect on what you have done so far. Adjust if needed, take what works, leave what doesn’t, and give yourself another goal (or that same one) for the next 2 or 3 months.

  1. Make your goals SMART 🎯

Goals are easier to achieve when they are carefully tailored. Make your goals SMART:

  • Specific = Clearly define what you want to accomplish.

  • Measurable = Adding specific numbers gives the goal clarity and makes it measurable. It's like setting a game score - you know when you've hit the target.

  • Achievable = Setting up a plan that's doable and personalized. While it's good to aim high, the goal should be challenging yet possible. Otherwise, you will be more likely to give up.

  • Relevant = The goal should make sense in the context of your larger plans and be relevant to your personal growth.

  • Time-bound = Having a deadline helps prevent procrastination.

Example of a non-SMART goal: ‘’I will learn Spanish’’

Example of a SMART goal: ‘’I’ll reach A2 level in Spanish in next 3 months. I'll commit to studying for at least 20 minutes every day, using a combination of language-learning apps and online courses. I'll track my progress by watching an episode of a TV show in Spanish every week.’’

  1. Enjoy the process 🌿

Let’s zoom out for a second. It's really not just about reaching the finish line, it’s about every step along the way.

Enjoying the process keeps your motivation sustainable. It is much better to have a steady source of energy that lasts than just a burst of inspiration in January.

Remember that you are not here only to win, but to keep winning! ⚜️

So how do you do this? Celebrate every single little win, romanticize the little moments, make little tweaks to keep things interesting and share your journey with people that root for you! ✨

Keep these in mind and I do not doubt that 2024 is going to be your year. I will be here to inspire you and give you straightforward advice every step of the way.

Sending you my love and best wishes for the year ahead. ✨

Stay glowing and growing,

Your Glowing Bestie ✨💗
