Mental Hygiene 101 🧠

You know of hygiene. But do you know of MENTAL hygiene? 🧹
It refers to practices and strategies that you use to maintain your psychological well-being and improve your mental health.
Aka it’s all the things you do to make your mind a pleasant place to exist in. ✨
Because no matter where you go or who you’re with - you’re always in your own head and with your thoughts. 🌍
So why wouldn’t you take care of it AT LEAST to the extent in which you take care of your teeth? Think about it. 🦷✨
You brush your teeth 2-3 times a day.
You take 5 extra minutes to floss.
You go to your routine dentist check-ups once a year.
You invest $$ into braces.
You fix a problem when there is one.
You choose the right toothpaste and toothbrush for your teeth.
As you should. Because you were only given this one set of teeth in your life and you should take care of them.
But you were also given this one brain. And for some reason, we sometimes treat it… like a dumpster truck? Like we can just throw whatever and not even check how it’s coping with all that trash? 💩
I want you to think about When was the last time you…
sat down and gave yourself space to be honest with yourself?
allowed yourself to feel what you feel without judgment or minimizing
reframed a negative thought
acknowledged you’re overstimulated
stopped entertaining activities that were harming you mentally
journaled (about literally anything)
went to bed not scrolling yourself to sleep
unfollowed an account on social media that doesn’t inspire or educate
explored the real reasons behind your procrastination instead of scrolling your life away?
Girl, I JUST KNOW at least two of these questions HIT HOME for you. 😫
There is your work. The question that triggered you is what you need to explore and work on.🔎
Watch what you’re consuming. Watch what you’re surrounding yourself with. And most importantly, WATCH HOW YOU TALK TO YOURSELF. 🎯

Your thoughts create your emotions. Your emotions influence your actions. Your actions create your life.
You can’t hate yourself into someone you love.
