Getting Over The Cringe Mountain ⛰️
Read this if you're scared of statring
Starting something new isn’t hard only because of the work that must be done. It’s also hard because, at one point or another, it usually involves getting yourself out there.
Not only are you trying to navigate a new space, but everyone can what you’re doing. It almost necessarily involves leaving your comfort zone.
Look at her trying, who does she think she is? Cringe.
When people say mind is your most important asset to success - this is what it means.
It means being strong enough in your mind to allow yourself to be seen, to allow self-doubt, to be judged by others - and to still do it.
Getting over that mental hurdle is one of the biggest steps you can take. 👣 👉
And it goes for almost anything you might want to try.
Picking up a new sport? Your teammates will see have to see you failing and making mistakes.
Writing a book? Someone’s gotta read it.
Starting a new business? You will look like a rookie at the start.
Trying to amp up your social skills? Maybe your old friends start thinking you’re acting weird.
That uncomfortable feeling of being seen and judged is what is called getting over the Mountain of Cringe ⛰️ (credit to Erica Mallet for making up this term).
Anyone who got successful or really good at something had to climb over it at some point.

After a dreadful climb over the Mountain of Cringe, you descend into the Land of Cool. But you can’t get there without getting over the mountain first.
And it’s called the Mountain of Cringe because, well… we live in a world where trying is cringy. 😖
People are so wrapped up in their own limiting beliefs and the perfect outlet for that is projecting the limiting beliefs onto the people trying.
But here is the thing - the only people to judge you are the ones who never climbed the Mountain of Cringe. 🧗
It’s the people who are scared of trying.
a successful entrepreneur will never judge you for not succeeding at your first business idea
a successful youtuber will never make fun of your first video
a successful singer will never laugh at your first demo
The only people making fun of you are the ones who are scared of trying. Isn’t that so sad?
But honestly? No one actually cares.🥱
We’ve all got our own things going on and no one is breaking their head over you trying out a new thing.
Are you really going to miss out on what you want to do because of someone thinking you’re cringe for a few seconds?
Basically what this all comes down is just getting over your limiting beliefs. It’s all inner work (check out my latest two newsletters on identifying and destroying limiting beliefs here and here).
Reframing, trying, failing, succeeding, doubting yourself, then reframing again and the circle goes on and on. ♻️
It’s your own personal journey, one of the most important you can take.
And a necessary one if you want to live authentically, feeling aligned to your purpose.🌱
That’s all I have for you today,
Your Glowing Bestie ✨
